The2FunAdGuyz offer a new, large, high-quality, reproduction print of an incredible 1912 New York Fire Department black and white press photograph. This was the era in which ever faster, more powerful automobiles and trucks with other new firefighting technologies to give speed and power to urban fire departments. Then FDNY Chief John Kenlon, whose department was a leader in using technology to fight fires, steps into the seat of a newly delivered motorized fire car marked on the front as number 39. Behind the car, a firefighter connects or disconnects a hose. Civilian and fire officials look on in wonder. While the make is not identified, this was a massive vehicle if we judge the height of the humans, compared with that of the vehicle.
CAPTION: “New York Fire Department Motorized Fire Engine 1912.”
